The only one I can think of right now is moving to another room in the house for a few days.
I can hear birds chirping it must be bed time...

Stay with a friend in another part of the country, then invite him/her to stay with you later for their holiday?
Camping...oh yeah, not cheap if you don't already have the gear.
Go to the library and have a look at what's on in your own vicinity...you might be surprised at how much there is to do and see right on your own doorstep and which you didn't know was there.
Day trips to the coast, other cities/towns.
Sorry...that's all I can come up with right now.0 -
Check the YHA website. Also the National Trust do working holidays. Go to their website and order a brochure.

Hi empfun
Hope the below are useful
*A friend of mine lives in Wales & whenever she goes away, I always housesit for her. In the same spirit a visit to long lost friends & relatives is always worth an eploration.
*I second Snowy Owl's suggestion about discovering your own city-It was so much fun that I'm planning on something similar with my friend based on the Davinci code book & looking at London through that.
*I had a week with my niece & nephew post their Sats & well before my payday, so we had a creative week.
- We agreed the (expensive) highlights of the week in advance & planned around them - visit to brick lane for lunch etc
-We packed up picnics & went to the park and played boules & other games.
- we explored markets & explored London on the top of a double decker bus
- We did the Science, V&A & Natural History museums & had a lot of fun focusing on our favourites in each.
-we tried the freebie make up & grooming sessions in the big department stores
- We had a rained out day & ended up having a mamouth board game & jigsaw puzzle day.
*The local bus operators in my area run day trips to the country /coast /places of interest
*Ring your local Council's tourism/leisure dept & speak to them
I know nothing beats having a proper break, but even just somthing different from the normal routine can be fun. Bake something, plant something in the garden, learn to juggle or belly dance:T ...
:eek:Anything to avoid camping

Also camping barns, some are only £5 a night so all you would need would be a local bus time table and a sense of adventure .. LOL
