Card protection queries

My fiancees health is up/down meaning our income is not steady at all. I'm a nurse so my income doesnt even cover our expenses each month.

We want to get married next June and honeymoon after.
Which is fine IF she stays healthy and doesn't have too many sick periods. The issue comes if she is sick for longer than a few weeks here/there.

My question is if we book and pay deposits via the credit card, but later due to her health (not enough money saved to pay balance / have to move wedding etc) would we be covered in any way? Or do we have to accept we are risking the deposits no matter how we pay?

Obviously travel/wedding insurance won't cover pre existing conditions so that's not an option.

Section 75 only provides covers in the event of the vendor being unable to supply the goods or services.

Just to add to zx81's post, there is a common misconception that paying a deposit for something and then later cancelling just means losing the deposit, but, dependent on the Ts & Cs of the contracts you enter into, you may find that you're liable for more than the deposit and in some cases the full amount.

Why is that obvious? Insurances will often cover pre-existing conditions if they're declared upfront and the appropriate adjustments made to premiums, so, since you won't be able to use section 75 credit card protection, this would seem to be the only avenue that you can explore....
  • Thanks. I thought this would be the case.

You literaly can't get any cover for bi polar without remortgaging the house lol
