Ikea LED bulbs
Hi, Sorry if in wrong forum but seemed the most apt,
Does any one else have problems with Ikea LED bulbs with how long the last? We are lucky if we get a year out of them and thats not on a dimmer. They are in the lounge so on the most of all of our lights but still not lasting long at all. Thankfully Ikea change them each time but it is a pain having to do this every couple of months as the next one starts flickering.
Cheers

I had a similar issue, usually with enclosed fittings as the lamps get warm (especially so for LED). I swtiched to Screwfix LED Filament lamps and have had no problems since.0

Yeah. These ones I got from Amazon last about 5 minutes also.

Led and cfl bulbs have electronics in them which can be damaged by poor connections. If you can diy try checking for loose connections at the switch and light fittings.0

No, ours are fine after many years.0

I have a dozen or so 6.3W LED lamps from Ikea along with 3 of their 10w dimmable lamps. All are still functional after 3 years although a couple have developed an occasional flicker.
If I needed more lamps now however, I'd be doing the same as Andy_WSM and getting filament lamps (Screwfix ones are good, although from what I can tell, most of the filament lamps in UK retail are actually from the same supplier) as they're more efficient and tolerate enclosed housings better.3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day). I am not sure any of my LED bulbs have gone out yet.
I purchased Asda's own brand bulbs for the in-laws (e14, 25/30w equivalent I think) and they were okay.
I have also purchased some from Costco in the past (Not sure of branding), but I picked up both 60w and 100w equivalents but none have ever failed.
As to someone saying a poor fitting.. ES's should be tight so that shouldn't be an issue, and bayonet pins have springs on them so I cant see how those can be put in wrong either (tho they do sometimes sit wonky)
If they were old stock (as in, 4+ years old) then the failure rate could be a lot higher as the first gen of Ikea bulbs were honestly junk. I think regulation came in (from the evil EU, we can throw it out soon) that said these bulbs needed to last a specific number of hours.
I have had HORRIBLE luck using CFL outside during the winter, but LED's are great (sometimes slightly dim) once they warm up. With it being a lot warmer than usual then I would expect LED's (old ones, with thermal issues) to have a much shorter lifespan.
And by flickering, do you mean they flicker every so often when they are off (sometimes hours later?), or that you can see them flickering really quickly while they are on.
The first one could indicate induction or current leakage on the line or bad drains on the capacitors, the second one would just be poor/cheap design (Or you can see high frame rates :P)...0
