Sent the wrong thing

Options
Hi All,
Thank you for reading and hopefully being able to point me in the right direction.

I ordered two pairs of shoes from an online company called Bluewaterbay.co.uk, now you would think that with a name like that it was a UK based company... Nope China! The penny dropped when the tracking email arrived with its code.

Now the price of the shoes was good ... a little too good so I paid by Credit card for the extra protection and my shoes duly arrived, quite quickly actually.

The only thing right about the order was there were two pairs and they were the correct size, Oh and they were shoes.

A couple of emails with pictures to point out that ... I didn't order what you sent!
And a very nice man offered me huge discount on my next order in way of reparation,I refused and asked for pre paid return packaging to be sent and a full refund. Funnily enough things have gone very quiet in China, so were do I stand?(defo not in the tan/orange buckskin shiny toe capped fur lined ankle boots that I now seem to own) I have received goods and the company have gone very quiet?

Many thanks again.
Mark

The site is incredibly ropey looking, plus a price too good to be true?

You are bound by the laws of China, which I guarantee wont require them to provide you a prepaid return. Your credit card company is probably your only hope.

As above, good luck trying to retrieve your money.

There have been a lot of similar threads recently where people are seduced by price and only belatedly realise they're buying from overseas and UK laws don't apply. Do people not carry out even a basic check of the websites they're happy to pump their credit card details and address into?! The fact that there's nothing on the site about the company, its terms and conditions, policies and so on should make it fairly obvious it's dubious.
  • I've always wondered why scammers go to such great lengths to try and obtain personal details, surely if they just set up a website with cheap shoes and handbags then the personal details would come flooding in??
