A few weeks ago my A/C pump on my VW T5 seized up and tore up a belt.
Got the van dragged to my normal garage who stated a new pump was required. They ordered one, it arrived and they ordered the wrong one. They then said it would be a while till they could hold of one. So I found a specialist breakers yard that had one in a tested and working condition. Ordered it and it arrived a few days later. By the time I got my van back nearly 2 weeks of work had been missed.
On the drive home I noticed a noise coming from the van. Took it back and they said it must be the pump and another new one would need to be ordered.
So I spoke to the company that sent it to me who was surprised as it was tested before being sent to me. They asked that the garage call them to discuss as I didn't have anything technical to tell them.
It has taken more than a week for me to get the garage to call the supply company. In the end the lady in the office was left to do it earlier today. I'm told now that the supply company wants the part removed and sent back so they can test it out.
This will leave my van off the road again for an unknown amount of time which will leave me out of pocket again. The part did come with a 90 day warranty.
My question is, should they actually be sending me out a replacement to swap it over with the potentially faulty part? If the part is not faulty then they can just sell that on as normall.
The van is for my business so each day out of action is lost money for me. Hiring a van is uneconomical as I am sole trader and due to carrying chemicals, any hire requires expensive specialist insurance.
