Moving DDs to another bank (outside a switch)

Hi,

I wondered if anybody could advise me how to move my DDs with one of my bank accounts to another account I already have open with another bank. For instance if I have a couple of DDs in my HSBC account and I want to move them to my Nat West account in readiness for switching the Nat West account to M&S.

TIA for any advice.

Telephone DD originator (s) ( unless you can do it on line) and advise that you want the DD to be take from your Natwest account rather than your HSBC account.

Easy, as above. Just ring the firm with the account details.

Also, once the DDs have been transferred - once you can see them online in your Natwest bank account and after the payment went through - then log into HSBC and cancel the DDs with HSBC, just in case.

In addition to the Full Account Switch service you've heard about, many banks also offer Partial Switch services, wherein your donor account stays open but you can choose to move across selected DDs and SOs.

It's probably simpler just to call up the individual companies and inform them you'd like to update your bank details, though.

Some companies allow you to change DDr details online if you have/create an account with them. This can be quicker and easier than telephoning - which can cost you money if not Freephone.

On top of that try to change them more than 10 days in advance of a payment being due to go out because they usually state they need 9 days to set a DDr up.
