Old unprocessed cheque, legally obliged to reissue?

Hi all, not sure if this is the right sub.
I recently found a cheque issued to my partner in 2014 for £91 that she never banked. It's from a letting agent and was the remainder of a deposit returned to her once she left.
Obviously the cheque is too old to bank and I have emailed the company on her behalf asking them to reissue it. They haven't responded.
Before I email again or call them I'm curious to know do they have a right to refuse a reissue? It would be an inconvenience for their accounts but legally the deposit returned is my partner's and she has a right to her money.
I'm unsure how to proceed any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

in one way it is like any other debt - they dont have to pay you and in the end the only way is to sue....
that said, special rules exist for return of letting deposits. you will have to find out what the law was in 2014.0 -
You could try sending it through. Most banks have a floor limit for manually checking cheques and £91 is well under that floor limit.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Have a look at https://www.chequeandcredit.co.uk/information-hub/faqs/cheques-and-cheque-clearing and scroll down to "Is it true that cheques are only valid for six months?"

Definitely worth your wife's time to pop along to the bank with it. It's not a huge amount, and 2014 isn't really that long ago. I would certainly give it a try - what's the worst that can happen?
But there will be an issue if the company has ceased trading since 2014.No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0
