Hi,
My wife purchased a 2007 Land Rover Discovery last October from a dealer.
Its recently had a fault has come up that causes every error to show and the car stops and can't be driven it has been narrowed down to the instrument panel so a new one was ordered but the garage have been able to get it to talk to the car. So they send of the current one to be reprogrammed and reset but that has failed to.
The only thought now from the garage is that the first instrument pack is faulty so they have ordered another but its not certain that they will be able to get it working.
If it can't be repaired she is left with an un-driveable car and its un-sellable so where does this leave her as i believe the law states the burden is on the owner to prove the fault was with the vehicle if its been over six months since purchase?
Many thanks

I think your dispute is with the repairer, not with the dealer, since the former seems incapable of doing proper fault-finding.
Presumably this 11 year old car came without any form of warranty? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Your problem is with the garage who are trying to repair it. If they can't then get the old panel refitted and go elsewhere. Sometimes its worth finding a specialist, Land Rovers have a reliable reputation for electrics.0

Well, it's safe to say that their reputation is reliable. The reliability of the electrics is another matter. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
I guess I read the OP differently ... I've presumed the dealer and garage are one and the same.0

I presume this is a joke that's gone over most peoples heads. :rotfl:0 -
