Multi-asset fund ideas

Can anyone give me ideas of multi-asset funds apart from:

Vanguard Lifestrategy
Blackrock consensus
HBSC Global Strategy

Preferably low cost and where I can see geographical and portfolio mix

L&G Multi-Index is usually the fourth one in that list....

What exactly is wrong with any of those choices? There are plenty more but they tend to be more expensive.

Does anyone have a link to see the geographical and portfolio mix of the first three - a fund sheet? It is not obviously available on the sheet. I have fund L&G details.

I have opened the prospectus but they are weighty docs.

Look in the mixed equity sectors. 20-60%, 40-85% etc. Most of those in there are multi-asset funds.

They all tell you most of what they invest in, by giving their top holdings (or all holdings) at a point in time. And for those four in particular, most of what they invest in is index funds, so you can tell what they invest in from the name of the fund or what it says it tracks in its own factsheet.

Does your platform or research tool of choice offer a look-through of a portfolio or prospective portfolio? (some tools such as Morningstar's "x-ray" are bundled on some platforms). If the funds subscribe to Trustnet or Morningstar you can often do side by side comparisons on that site.

You are right to be looking at the prospectus and marketing docs and financial advisors' sales aids rather than just a factsheet though. It's important to know what the fund intends to do and how it might like to achieve it, rather than just see what it happens to be holding at a snapshot point in time, which can change over time.

You want the factsheet, it should be available on most sites that provide these funds. Failing that just google xxxx factsheet or find them at Trustnet

Hargreaves Lansdown carries lots of info. Via the Fund Analysis tab you can get a geographic map, breakdown by sector and market cap and other info.

there is also Fidelity Multi Asset Allocator which like HSBC GS does not have the UK equity bias of Lifestrategy, L&G Multi and Blackrock Consensus.

I also like the look of Baillie Gifford Managed B fund, which is an actively managed multi asset fund with a low ongoing charge for an active fund.
