If you were in and out of hospital, that could be a mitigating factor. Try it.
Only if you could prove you were physically incapable of sending a single email / making a phone call / going on the website for the entire 6 month period. There is no issue trying it but we are at a point 6 years on from the complaint being rejected which OP would need to cover
