Smart meter suddenly reconnected and seemingly sending readings. I want it out.
I left British Gas for Bulb last year and sure enough, the meter went "dumb", the display stopped working and I went back to submitting monthly readings through their mobile app. I've just read the meter and it's now showing a signal, something it hasn't done for almost 12 months. I then reconnected the display and it's also now working again as it shows my current usage in kWh. As I haven't consented for this to be reactivated I am not happy.
I am also unhappy with the notion of surge pricing that's being reported a lot more as of late as I live in a house where we all work shifts of varying patterns and as such, need consistent energy pricing.
Is there any way to get this lot removed? I'm awaiting a response from Bulb.

How do you know it is actually sending readings ? TOU tariffs are not currently used on domestic supplies so you will have consistent pricing according to the tariff you are on, single rate or multi rate. You obviously consented to have a smart meter fitted at some stage. They may well remove it at cost to you.0

It now shows a signal which it hasn't done since I left British Gas. I know that these TOU tariffs aren't here YET but I'm sure they're not far off and my concern is the government may remove the right to remove the smart meters and potentially force smart meter customers to use these TOU tariffs.0

Not due until 2020 and you would need to select a tarrif that is tou0

If it's been dumb since you switched from BG then you need to consider if your supply has been erroneously switched.
Wonder what Bulb will come back to you about it?0 -
As I understand it - your meter cannot communicate with Bulb - it can only talk to BG.
Once transferred to Bulb is the BG link killed off ? What happens if a supply is transferred back to the original supplier of a Smart Meter ?
Perhaps one of our Meter Readers can comment ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Just wrap the meter in tinfoil so that the SIM can't communicate with the network...No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Unless things speed up considerably, TOU tariffs are still many years away. General consensus is that the 2020 date for everyone to have some form of smart meter is not going to be achieved and a fully SMART network will be some years behind .:)0 -
What happens if a supply is transferred back to the original supplier of a Smart Meter ?over 73 but not over the hill.0

I went back to Scottish Gas after leaving them for Bulb and my smart meter became smart again.3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day). Octopus Flux0

How do you determine that it has a signal.
What colour is the light on the communication hub?
Is there a signal bar on the meter display, or are you looking at the signal bars on the monitor?0
