Sky Box to Plasma - sound

Hi
I have connected my sky box to my plasma using a scart lead that doesn't transmit sound. I then thought I could take a phono lead from the sky box to the plasma for the sound but it doesn't work. Anyone know how to do this?
Someone told me that I could take a lead from the sky box phono sockets to the headphone socket of the tv, surely that can't work can it??

I presume you are using a vision only Scart cable and not a fully wired Scart cable. Some Scart cables do not have all 21 connections. They are optimised for vision only and only have the connections for vision.
Does the TV have phono inputs for sound?
If yes, use those with phono to phon cables.
If not, get a decent fully wired Scart cable.
£25 or less will get you a good quality cable. Don’t use the freebie rubbish.0 -
The TV will only use the phono inputs for the sound if you're using the AV channel that gets its video from the video in phono, not from a SCART connector.0

Thanks for the repliesYou should get sound with a Scart lead. The phono to headphone socket won't work as the headphone is an output not input.
The Scart is the QED AV4110 and is designed not to have audio transmission. That's what I thought about the headphone idea as well.

TV does have phono inputs but that has been tried and doesn't work, reason being that described in Conor's reply I'd say.
I am not willing to change my beloved AV4110 scart as the picture with this is the best I have seen.
Looks like I'll just have to use external speakers! Or does anyone still think I can use my TV speakers somehow?0 -
If the TV has a component setting you could try that, it may then look at the phono audio inputs, I assume that both the Sky and TV are set to RGB.
If it were me I'd get a fully wired scart (not more than £10)and try it, you might be surprised. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
