What happens to the PPI if the bank can't trace my ex?

Hi
I reclaimed PPI and a few months ago I recieved 50% from Lloyds as it was a joint account with my ex. We split up 15 years ago and I no longer have any contact details for him. The bank clearly haven't been able to trace him as they keep sending correspondence for him to my address.
I have asked the bank what happens to his 50% if they cannot trace him but they won't give me a straight answer.
Does anybody know if the bank are entitled to keep the 50% if my ex cannot be traced? Is there any way that I would be entitled to claim it? It's not a large amount (about £1,800) but I could really do with the money right now.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

If you don't have any mutual friends or contact with his family then let it go, you won't get the money as it's not yours and if he ever contacts them to complain, will get his share. No skin of your nose as you have your money
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
