Thank you all for your help so far.
My house is 3 stories and where the pipe snapped is halfway on the second floor. It is also a cast iron pipe so we think will cost more.
I!!!8217;m very glad to hear that it!!!8217;s not a worry in the short term.
The main thing worrying me is that all conversation has been by telephone, All I have are empty promises. I would feel much better if I have confirmation from their insurance that this is being dealt with.
Does anyone know how long it could take insurance to contact me?
Is it definitely a down pipe for the guttering and not a soil pipe?

Yes. It’s stormed a few times here already and I could see water pouring out of the part where it broke off, instead of going down the pipe.
If I were to ask Bookers for details on Insurance, realistically what can I find out? Their insurer’s name? Their policy number?
  • Bookers will probably self insure for things like this, very much doubt it will go anywhere near an insurance company.

As said get quotes OP and if nothing is done in the next month or so effect the repair and the sue them.

    Alternatively just keep badgering.

I'd advise contacting your insurance only as a last resort as this increases premiums, regardless of whether it results in a claim or not.

As others have said, get quotes, and start dealing with them in writing - they should have an email address you can use.

It costs you about £3.50 and will give you the name and telephone number of their Insurers. You can then ring the Insurers directly, the Insurers will then contact Bookers and ask them to report the claim (Assuming they have not already) so they can handle the claim

I have heard it may be free if you use an app on your phone

I have a feeling they don't self Insure
