Coming in as £562.75 for July, so under £600 budget which is good! My other half is hopefully getting a new job in next couple of months with better pay but I am still going to try and keep the grocery spending down so we can save more! :)

  • Hi everyone. I'm finally getting around to updating my numbers, thankfully. I know I'm close to the edge and possibly have even gone over. This is even though I've had 5 NSDs since my last updated on August 8th.

€2.00 at the market for peaches.

€2.20 at Delhaize for bacon and a small baguette to use in a strata.

€3.80 at the halal market for a tray of 30 eggs plus a bunch of parsley. Their butcher counter is closed for holiday until August 31st so I eventually had to go to Lidl for chicken legs that were on sale 2 for 1.

€12.04 at Lidl for hummus, chicken drumsticks, feta, raspberries, potato chips, and a Spanish tapas plate of meats.

€17.13 at the organic market for olive oil bottle refill from the bulk stations plus bananas, mushrooms, etc.

€4.17 at Delhaize for Greek yoghurt and something else I've forgotten now.

€9.84 at Lidl for paper towels (kitchen roll), soup for OH who was ill on Tuesday and some other bits.

€18.98 at a home goods type of store for Swiffers and a spray cleaner. I'm still in the process of decluttering our apartment and have been going through cleaning products at a healthy clip. I tried to delay this but I had to get it. It took a huge chunk out of my budget. :(

    TOTALS SO FAR:
    €290.91 / €300.00
    9 / 12 NSD

I'm almost at my limit. Oh well. That'll teach me to go bonkers at the expat store again. :rotfl:

Tomorrow I'll head back to Lidl for 1kg of chicken breast fillets that are 40% off due to a sale this week. I'll package them up in the freezer 2 at a time and pull some out as needed. We also need fruit as we're down to just bananas. Banana bread might be in the cards for a few of them. We can probably last a bit longer with the remnants of our veg until Saturday. I am getting better at using things up, so I'm happy about that. :T

I might get a bag of frozen or fresh spinach to add to mac and cheese I'm thinking of making in the Instant Pot this weekend. There's some cheddar that needs to be used up since it seems to be molding a bit. The aim of the next couple of weeks is to mitigate the overage instead of just throwing my hands up and going berserk on the spending. I'm also looking ahead to my birthday party the second weekend of September. That's going be a lot but I'm going to start planning the menu next week.

Good night everyone and good luck! :j

Morning all. It's been ages since I've been on here and posting as part of this challenge.
My month now runs from 20th August - 19th September so I'm starting now for Monday with a budget of £450. the husband has moved from weekly to monthly pay so the pantry needs restocking and if I can find a decent chest freezer on Freecycle I'll be stocking up for that for a few months, then will drop my monthly budget.

  • Spent loads out of both bulk and regular budgets, including stocking up on Hendersons Relish (vegan worcester sauce), as I'm experimenting with making Seitan and lots of the vegan specials at Lidl - first time I have managed to get there before they sold out. I'm, as usual, severely overstocked freezer wise, but with new stuff to try. Been using loads of stores. Made the most beautiful carrot, corriander & lentil soup, not a fan of corriander, but don't mind 'ground' when cooked and also a red lentil n garlic dip to die for. Am not intending shopping for another week, apart from the odd bit of salad stuff. Have a lovely w/e everyone - have updated sig.
