I worked doing promotions in London over the summer.. very difficult to get into. Most of the girls were on stuckforstaff.com, but you do have to pay a fee if I remember correctly. The one thing they advised was to constantly update your profile in ordeer to remain ta the top of the list of those available to work.
another great company to work for who do provide a wide range of work (mainly for younger people, particularly people at uni) is The Lounge, their website is www.theloungegroup.com, they always have campaigns going on in the big university cities. I've done promotions work giving out Southern Comfort and Mardi Gras gear at big events, did some market research and stuck tv licensing post its to peoples doors - really well paid work, wth regular updates as to whats available with them.
Thats all I can think of for now, I'm sure theres more so I'll be back when it comes to me!0 -
Hi
I work for CPM and can say that they are worthwhile registering with - I have been doing sampling work with them and it has paid well. I agree with an earlier post though - you have to put up with some comments. As a large chested girl you can imagine what got said when I was giving out pears!!
I am on stuckforstaff but have not paid the fee. Basically as a non-paying member they send me e-mail alerts but I would need to pay the fee to take any work. I haven't seen anything yet in my area so I haven't paid.
My advice would be to sign-up for as many reputable agencies as you can. As I do more assignments I get recommendations from colleagues. The nature of this work means you are always working with different people so you will find if you ask you will get a lot of recommendations. Some of my work I have got simply because I am near an assignment and they can't find anyone else to do the work - and if you can help them out of course this looks good for you for any future work. In fact it appears the agencies get let down quite a bit so be reliable or at least let them know as soon as you can if you can't do a job.
I have 2 kids at school and this hasn't been a problem. At first I thought the agencies would only want me to do work if I could commit to lots of days but actually I have done quite well doing odd days here and there as there is always scope for filler work and some assignments only run for a day.
You need to be the sort of person who can think on your feet, can get on with many different people including the staff in the store who may or may not like you being there :-), and be professional.
Oh - and I bet it is difficult to get into this work in London as there are probably loads of people chasing the work - but in the sticks they seem to be crying out for people!
Hope that helps
