We moved into our home back in may and we regularly get standing water in our built in washing machine. I have emptied filter (which was blocked) but it is still occuring. I got home from holiday at 3am this morning to find very dark smelly water sitting in my machine ...the kitchen lounge smells like sewage works . I have read some different posts and info and am after advice is the hose plumbed in correctly to allow drainage / not have the sink waste going back into the washing machine?

If the outlet hose is connected to the waste under the sink then water from the sink can get into the washing machine when you empty the sink. Water from the sink will leave by the easiest route, to stop that being to the washing machine, the machine's drain hose should go up in a loop as high as possible under the sink, water from the sink doesn't like going uphill.
Another thing worth trying is to take all the drainage pipework under the sink apart & clean it out, so the route to the drains is clear. Take a photo of it before you take it apart & lubricate any rubber o-rings with washing up liquid when re-assembling.
Don't pour any fats down the sink, that's what usually causes blockages.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -
had this very similar to yours. my drain was fine. the dirt trap and stuck my fingers in the housing for dirt but all was fine, still enough water would not pump. Pump turned.
I turned out my waste hose was blocked. One elongated coat hanger and 20 mins to find the pliers and all was sorted. I did not have to even buy a new hose0 -
You need a one way check-valve on the pipe - before it connects to the trap

That stops water from coming back into the washing machine from the drain..0 -

There has to be an air break between the end of the w.m/c outlet pipe and the water level in the sink drain. If your discharge hose is firmly attached to the sink drain, ensure that your sink drainpipe is running freely, not partially blocked which causes the waste water to back-up and slow drainage from the sink bowl.
If the end of the discharge hose pokes downwards into an open ended waste pipe, it is possible that fat and slime has built up in the waste pipe and blocked the air break. Withdraw the discharge hose from the drain pipe and check that the end is clean. Ensure that your discharge pipe end is an inch or two above the waste water level, to prevent syphoning. Check by putting the hose back into the pipe and pull it out again to see that it's dry. If not, pull the hose upwards and out of the water, then fix it in position to ensure that it won't fall back again.0
