Has anyone taken this out?
I have heard of one company: 'Stoneguard 05' = £165 for 5 years - max cover £3250. Anymore info available?
Thanks in advance.

I'd not heard of this before - it offers cover for accidental or deliberate damage to a headstone. See here for an example.
I guess that memorial manufacturers and funeral parlours are like any other retail business - e.g. an electrical retailer - they have the opportunity to make an "up-sell" and take a cut of the premium.
You need to consider this from the insurer's perspective - they are looking to make money by collect premiums form a lot of punters and hope that as few as possible of them require a pay-out. Much like a bookmaker.
It is difficult to separate the practicalities of this from the emotion - protecting the memorial to a loved one - but ask yourself how likely is it that the headstone would be damaged? Is the cemetery in a "rough" area, are there signs of damage to other headstones? What would it cost to get the headstone repaired if it was scratched or broken?
You can only answer these questions yourself, but you might decide that it is a low risk and you would be better to put the £165 into a deposit account and carry that risk yourself.
Also look out for the small print, which may limit the number of claims as well as the maximum cover.

We took out some a couple of months back with Stone guard. The mason sold it to us but i noticed that its now direct stoneguard.uk.com.
as it was only £58? for 5 years and a friend has just had to fork out after her mums headstone memorial was tipped over and cost her £300+ to sort out I think it is worth it.
But if your headstone is worth a lot more I can see the other point too!0
