I don't know what to do anymore. I have always tried to find a strategy and remain as independent as possible, despite all odds. Today, I have tried to communicate on the phone but it was so difficult for me that I burst into tears. Friends say they will help but they are to busy. Even when I leave numbers etc with them of someone to contact its not happening. I have tried to obtain PIP but I don't have a great deal of medical evidence because I cannot manage anything medical. It causes overwhelming distress. But because I had to cope with overwhelming distress as a child its not evident in the appointment (just before and after when no one is around). So it will sound like I am not telling the truth when I say I get distressed with medical personnel. I have tried doing things by email, text, but that does not work because I also have poor organisational skills so I cannot usually follow things up. I try to make the best of the times when I am more to do things but thats not working. Things that need attending to are pilling up. I tried to get a assessment of a social worker but that did not work but that did not work because of the poor organisation skills. They said because I did not answer correspondence they could not help. But thats the problem...why I need help!

Do you have any family who can help to get things in place for you?I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0

Sadly I don't have any family who can help get things in place. I wish I had.0

Mightmouse, there are a few things that you can do to help yourself.
First, see your GP - yes, this will involve making a phonecall, or going out to the surgery to make the appointment...and then turning up for the appointment! ..You can write things down to tell the GP so that you don't forget....you may be referred to a specialist, or the GP might give you medication...either way, you can be helped to take the sharpest edge off you anxiety. (I know - I get anxious about EVERYTHING!)
Try again with a social worker, last time you didn't follow through because you didn't answer letters...so try again!
I don't use the phone - and have my mother make all calls for me...most places will accept your not answering the phone in person....do you have a very close friend who could do this for you?...if you explain issues to the DWP they will send letters/emails instead of phoning for some things....(for some matters they phone Mum as they have her number)
Finally, you need to get a notebook or diary!...make a to-do list for each day and cross/tick things off as you do them...it will take a while, but you need to get into this routine...if you get a letter which needs a response, you write on your list...then have a set time every day for 'list work'...one hour when you focus on doing jobs from the list...and number the tasks, with 'answering official letters' going near the top!....it's a small thing but it can be useful!0 -
Ask the council to be put in contact with a support worker to sort out paperwork and bills. As for carers and help as adult services for an assessment if you need care at home.0
