PPI issues

Options
Good afternoon,

New to the forum so be gentle! :)
I have only recently started enquiring about claiming back for PPI that I MAY have been mis-sold.
I have contacted 3 or 4 credit cards that I know I had. Although I did not know the account numbers, Capital One, MBNA and Egg have been helpful. The letter I wrote was a general but polite letter. Egg replied with an immediate amount to be refunded, a four figure amount. Very pleased.

I have contacted Lloyds, where I had Lloyds TSB credit cards and other accounts. They have replied with the end digits of the account numbers and a questionnaire. I am having difficulties filling it in, so have written to them for more information.

However, I am thinking that I may have had one or two other small loans in the last 8-10 years, as I recovered from student living. I do not have paperwork and do not know with whom I had the loans with. Is there anyway to find out who I have had loans/credit cards with in the last 10 years? I have thought about using a credit check website - would any of them provide this information?

Thank you for any help you may have.

No, your information is not public so is not available like that

The credit reference agencies only hold the last 6 years, if the loan was active in the last 6 years it will be on there, if it finished more than 6 years ago, it won't. Your bank might have old records of who you were paying via direct debit or standing other. Otherwise, either you remember or you write to everyone and see. Without records, you would be relying on the firm continuing to hold records for the case to progress.

Do not believe any claims firms lies about being able to check for you, all they do is send complaints to everyone and see if any stick.

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
