Sticking ceiling mounted curtain rail

I have a ceiling mounted curtain rail with a cord. I think a guest has hand pulled the curtains and now the cord is very tough to pull. I can't see anything obviously wrong other than one side the thin string that connects the curtain hooks looks loose and could potentially be getting caught with the master thing?
Anyone got any ideas other than lubricating the track? It's not very old so I'm hoping it can be rescued.

It sounds to me as though the cords that run in the track have become twisted or come off the small wheels at either end of the track.
Lubricating anything will just cause a mess & will not fix the problem.
I would take the curtains off the track then take the track off the ceiling fixings.
Lay the track on the floor & have a look whats going wrong.
Be careful if you start to take the track & runners apart or you might get in a pickle.
