Returing computer under warranty - security?

My Acer laptop has a dodgy screen (keeps flickering) so I need to return it to Acer under warranty.

My concern is how safe is this, should I delete all files with personal stuff (have already backed up), but I know any computer wizard can get into stuff even if deleted.

Am I just being over cautious?

I really don't want to part with it, but its only 8 mths old!

  • You're right to be cautious if your hard drive has personal files on it, as you don't know where it might end up.

Use Eraser to overwrite sensitive files.

Also download Ccleaner by clicking the big green arrow. Untick the Yahoo toolbar option when installing it. Run Cleaner and tick all options to delete temporary files, browser form information etc.
