This really needs to be celebrated, mourned, or just laughed at, FIFTEEN(15) Long wasted years for what?
How many lives have been wasted, how high did house prices go up in those 15 years, how many of the original posters are still about, what is their mental state now.
Read some of the threads between 2003 and 2005, the 1000's of all knowing threads that knew the real truth.
And the biggest question of all, how many times did they concede they were wrong and how many time have they said sorry for the damage they caused, ZERO, not one time have they acknowledged they were ever wrong.

People should be on trial or swinging from lampposts for funding and promoting that website. Countless families needlessly forced into a lifetime of poverty if not separated.0

Or the government should be on trial for perpetuating and encouraging a system where the only path to personal financial security is through property speculation.
Why shouldn't the UK be more like Germany etc where it's perfectly possible to live a productive, fruitful and rewarding life as a property leaser, without stigma, scorn, accusations of alcoholism, and assumptions of poverty?
Makes me very angry reading this board. I'm a firm beleiver that mockery should only be aimed at those more fortunate and privildged than our selves. We should be sympathetic to those for whom through no fault of there own (no BOMAD etc) couldn't afford to buy.
Not everyone is a speculator with 400k in the bank. Many just wish they had the same opportunities as you.0 -

What you say has merit....however the point about HPC is that they actively encourage people not to buy a home because a crash is imminent. It's been 'imminent' every day on there ever since thy started. They have cost lots of people lots of heartache and financial loss.
That's why they should be criticised.0 -

We are talking about people who choose to speculate by not buying when they have the ability too or even selling-to-rent (called STR back in 2001).
I'm not laughing but people who decide to speculate on their home have to take responsibility and the fact is that often includes not being very attractive to the opposite gender who are often looking for security.
As for enccouraging others, well others have to take some responsibility for taking the word of complete strangers and following that through on one of the most important decisions of their lives.
I would like to think I listen to oppsing view points, but that's a million miles from blindly following the advice of stangers.0 -

Hardly. It's just an echo chamber. Even I'm someone was unduly influenced, it's their fault for being gullible or not seeking a diversity of opinion. Some people will believe anything. Particular if it's on the internet or the side of a red bus."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0 -
I do think we are long overdue a sizeable downwards correction of house prices of about 25-40% at some point very soon.
Shall I start up a HPC2 forum lol0 -

The threads that predicted the sub-prime meltdown you mean? And what about the threads after 2008 that predicted that a banking crisis would become a sovereign debt crisis, and then a political crisis.....all well wide of the mark :rotfl:
Not to worry, Nationwide says house prices are still going up (a bit) as everything else (including transactions) goes pear shaped. :rotfl:
And to top it all it looks like they were right about a certain well known landlord as well0 -

By coincidence I have been living in my current home for 15 years, moved Aug 8th 2003 (yes the hottest day on record ever in the UK!) Paid £121,000 now going for £250,000. Glad I didn't see and log onto HPC the night before, I could be living in a box now and drying my eyes.
Mortgage is £550 and next door is rented for £1k pcm. When I moved in I did replace the kitchen and bathroom which were original from 1964 straight away and two years ago I had to spend £2k on a new boiler. This year I have spent £600 on carpet and in the next two years I'll probably replace the windows. All average home-owner stuff and no issues.0 -

That is the real value of owning, some bears tend to think that housing bulls are obsessed with HPI, but in fact, it is usually the bears that suffer that obsession. Just look at how many times Crashy goes on and on about HPI, but the real value is locking in a mortgage based on the value when you bought, because mortgage rates merely vary, whereas over time rents increase.chucknorris wrote: »
There you go again (Crashy) bringing up HPI, you are really obsessed with it. Probably because you know that you gave up so much of it, when you sold to rent. HPI is just the icing on the cake for us Crashy, we don't care about it as much as you doChuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0
