Structural engineer for loadbearing wall

Hello,
We have a structural engineer coming round in a couple of weeks to do calculations for us to have a single door extended to a double door in a loadbearing wall. Has anyone had this done, and can tell me what kind of access they are likely to need? i.e. are they likely to need to take up carpets to look at floorboards/look at other areas of the house or loft?
Thank you
