Christmas present for twin toddlers?

Options
Hi all,

We have twin girls who will be 21 months old at Christmas and I'm looking for ideas on presents we could get for them?!
I'm at a bit of a loss... so any suggestions are welcome! We dont have much money to spend so Im torn between getting them something big between them or something smaller each - but it has to be 'fair' for them not to argue over it!!

Max spend is probably £50 altogether - we've got a couple of little bits and bobs for stocking fillers... but need something else too!

Grandparents are getting a play house and a mini table and chairs for them - they already have buggies each and a ride on tractor thing! What else would toddler girls love?!

Thanks! Sally

that's really good, they have something like it at ELC

http://www.elc.co.uk/toy-41116?&parent_category_id=534, and with the 20% off works out at £24.00 including puppets. Cheaper to go to the store than buy it online though as you have to pay the carriage charge - unless you know anybody else in your area that wants to buy something from ELC and you can halve the carriage costs.

Only thing is, though, not sure if the children are old enough for this?

I can second the play kitchen if you have space.

I have three boys, and when the eldest (now 6.5) was about the same age as your twins, we splurged on the Little Tikes Country Kitchen. Ok, so it takes up loads of space, but it is consistently the most jointly-played-with toy (after the toy cars and Brio railway - but that's a boy thing, lol).

If you look around, there are a few good kitchens in your budget (try ELC and ToysRUs for starters), or you could look on eBay for a good condition second hand one (ours came from there - about £75, but with two large tubs of play food and accessories, and in excellent condition).

    :)

Actually, have you got an Aquadraw? They are really good as you won't get pen marks everywhere! About £30.
  • Wow, some fantastic suggestions!
I love the idea of the puppet theatre but I'm not sure they would be old enough to really play with it yet - though Im sure we'd have a good time :rotfl:

I think a kitchen/shop is a fab idea - I've seen a till in ELC and could get some tubs of play food to go with it... I used to love playing shops!

I'm also thinking of doing them an activity box each - an idea I saw on this forum - so they'll have bits and bobs like shiny paper, cardboard tubes, balloons, bubbles etc that they love playing with but made personal to each of them.

    Thanks everyone!

    How about this ^^^?
Collect at store and there's no delivery charge. Go thru' quidco for extra 5% off.
    It's £54.99 in Amazon
    Or

    and
    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3835863/Trail/searchtext%3EKITCHEN.htm

HUKD just posted a code for 10% off toys at woolworths - not sure when it's valid until and I know I cant post the code but its on the main forum.

You could also try Empire Stores catalogue
    http://www.empirestores.co.uk/Browsing/CategoryPage.aspx?CategoryId=6793&&Path=6793/7877/7878&&ChmCatId=7878

If it's your first order with them you generally get £15 off you 1st order of £30 or more, (lots of codes on hukd, but also a link on home page), if it's not your 1st order then there are plenty of codes around for money off. You don't need to open an account as you can pay by cc or dc straight away. Empire stores also do 7% thru' quidco.

Feel free to pm me if you need to ask anything

If it's not too late I'd be very tempted to get this little tikes kitchen which is half price in toys r us this weekend.

Second what everyone has said about a kitchen being a well played with toy. MY dd got one when she was two and loved it. She is five now and still plays with it. Plus her big brother who when she got it were already 8 and 7 played with it quite a lot too.

I don' think you should feel guilty if you get a joint present for your girls. My children have had many shared presents - ps2 etc. It's all part of being siblings! You could maybe get them an apron each if you do go for a kitchen (different colours or something?).

Things my DDs liked at that age, include
    Small trampoline
    small slide
Fisher Price Little People (sets aren't cheap but DD still plays at 6 so definitely value for money) Try ebay but watch for high postage costs. We started with a dolls house and train track and added over the years, fairground, farm, odd smaller sets (some second hand). Argos have 25% of this week. Train set same as ours but house is different.
Pop up tunnels and play balls (or an inflatable ball pit)
We didn't have a play kitchen but did have saucepans and a microwave cooker thingy with rings on the top (bit like the old baby belling cookers!) and food.
Little Tikes car - look for second hand ones.
7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers
