I moved into a new house earlier this month, I picked sky as my provider as theyd do me a really good deal on a broadband/tv/phone line package.

It was something along the lines of full price tv and a heavily discounted broadband and phone line. They installed the tv a couple of weeks ago but they kept delaying the broadband install.

Ive now found out that because its a new build house Ive only got a fibre optic line, so sky cant provide broadband or a phone line, so Im still expected to pay the full price for the tv package but Id get none of the discounts or deals.

Ive now got to get a broadband and phone line elsewhere, and can get very good packages that include TV, but Im tied in to an 18 month contract with tv for sky.

Do I have a leg to stand on as sky havent fulfilled there end of the bargain does that mean I would be able to end my contract early?

Thanks

Update -

I think Sky lists it's products stand alone, rather than a bundle so they are independent of each other. In that case, I doubt you have options to cancel TV for free.

Are you sure the TV package is full price? It's highly unusual for any new customer to pay full price as they constantly seem to have offers running.

If you are FTTP, then your choices are limited to BT or a handful of niche ISPs.

    It’s £25 a month for sky entertainment & hd

Bt was my choice and they’ve offered very good choicest

I thought with how Easy sky cancelled my broadband and phone line packages I’d at least have a chance of cancelling my tv, or does it now work like this?

Sky cancelled the BB because they couldn't supply it. They can supply the TV so no need for them to cancel that.

It's been a while since I had Sky BB but as I said...

If they are, then as there is no issue with the TV supply they have no requirement to let you cancel penalty free.

I would be asking Sky nicely to let you out of the contract .Explain that they cannot supply BB etc .
But if you wanted Sky TV in the first place what are you going to replace it with .

I didn’t especially want sky tv in the first place I would of been happy with bt tv but sky offered me a lot cheaper price.

It’s the fact they didn’t let me know I couldn’t have the broadband until 2 weeks after the tv was installed that annoyed me as if they told me before I would of cancelled it before they’d been to my house and avoided all the hassle

I understand that I just think it’s slightly unfair as they delayed the broadband install twice and didn’t tell me I couldn’t have it until 2 weeks after the tv install.

I wouldn’t even mind paying a cancellation fee if that’s available I was just wanting to know what my options are if they try forcing me into the full 18 month contract
