It's great that you're in a financial position where you can make that choice. A lot of people have no choice but to fight for their PIP because they rely on it for their additional costs, care needs or to help them get to work.

    You are joking - Yes?
We have lost the equivalent of over £200 a week, be it the PIP, the Pension Credit and the 100% Council Tax Support
That's about 40% of our weekly income gone.

We have to rely on credit cards and help from the children.

There was also another poster whose posting style and background are identical to yours who said he gave away his PIP to his kids or grandkids--
Yes, spot on. The person is question did state exactly this.

    He did, indeed.

And in this thread under his latest username

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5823257/awarded-pip-out-of-nowhere&page=2#topofpage

as Alice points out he described his award of Standard Daily Living worth over £2k as "nothing". Some other interesting figures and contradictions in there, too.

And in this thread. Full Civil Service pension of 2/3rds salary and private pensions. Plus elsewhere on MSE house is owned although there have been contradictions over whether or not it is Danday or his wife that is the owner. One post claiming that wife bought house with cash.

Kind of wish I hadn't followed that link.

In my area, you get 6x1 hour sessions through IAPT and a few psych reviews, months apart, before you're discharged back to your GP. Maybe I should move to where Danday lives? I might actually have a hope of getting better instead of just finding ways to cope with how I am.

And, as you said, this certainly paints a different picture to the one painted above:

You have met our resident Troll/Liar, we should have introduced you earlier.

    :j:j
  • I must say, as far as psych help is concerned its the same here in Kent. You can get 6x1hr counselling sessions free, on the NHS but I knew I needed more. Its only now I am in receipt of PIP I can pay for sessions, even with MIND.

And yes, it was sheer determination and desperation that made me continue with the appeal process to get PIP. And the same attitude that will make me pursue it after every re evaluation. I just couldn't afford not to, however bad the process made me feel the first time.

No, not joking, just responding to what you said (i.e. you chose to stop claiming because of the reviews). .
Thankfully and too late for me unfortunately, the government are to extend award periods for claimants like myself that have serious chronic long term issues that will never right themselves.to 10 years instead of the 2, 3 or 4 year awards which was the reason that I stopped the claim.
  • Good afternoon

I received a letter regarding my claim for PIP today, however my current award finishes on the 6th September and I am concerned about time running away.
if I may explain, I have already been to 2 Assessments this year first in January and the second in April on both occasions the Assessor stopped the Assessment as it was very traumatic for me and they explained they that had enough information to do the report . After waiting for 6 weeks on both occasions I contacted DWP only to be told that the assessment needs redoing.
I did explain to the assessor on the second visit that I didn't want to stop if it would mean me having to come back again, but was assured that it would not be necessary and I reluctantly agreed. However the same thing happened.
Now I am in a situation where my award is going to end in approx. 6 weeks and I still have to wait for my appointment from capita and the await the award.
Motobilty have extended my car lease for 6 months while it is sorted, so that something but I just cant afford for the award to stop.

the first two Capita assessors were lovely to me and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible in my anxious and nervous state considering the pain I go through to make these appointments.

Thank you so much for take the trouble to read this and I hope you can help me.

It would have been better for you to have started your own thread rather than asking your question on a thread that's 10 months old. Confusion often starts when this happens because people read the first post and comment on that, rather than your comment.

Unfortunately, if they didn't have enough of information then there's nothing more you can do but attend yet another assessment. Thankfully you're able to extend your mobility car in the meantime.

If your payments to stop before a decision is made and then you have a decision in your favour then you'll be backdated all the money from the date it stopped.
