Claim on old store card

Hi, I had a store card operated by Santander. I think they closed the account through me not using it but they didn't tell me that. They then passed all accounts to NewDay. NewDay have no record of me and Santander say they don't deal with cards anymore. I paid PPI and want to claim it if I can. What do I do? Thanks in advance

You don't claim anything, you complain about it

Which firm ran the store card and when was it opened / closed?

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

You do realise that you won't have paid any PPI if you didn't use the card?

Do you have documentary proof that you paid any PPI at all?
  • Hi, yeah I paid money every time I had a balance which I did off and on for years. I have a few statements proving this but only from about 7 years ago. I had the card for a long time before that though.
  • Thanks for clarifying, Santander took it over from the original people and then they closed it in 2014. Shortly afterwards they transferred all cards to NewDay. I assume they closed it to reduce the number of dormant accounts transferring.
