My credit file - and when it’s safe to apply for credit

Hey guys, so I’m now at the very lowest part of my debt, almost all paid off, have around £180 left, my credit file is starting to increase dramatically , but still have those unwanted defaults dating back to 2015 in some cases. My question is, when will it be safe after next month (when my whole debt is cleared) to apply…

On the basis that it can take that long to update. The only parts of a credit report that update same day are searches, and some pay day loans where the provider uses the MODA system.

In the meantime make sure you are on the electoral role as that takes about 6 weeks to follow through as well. Once your cards are paid off, do not close them. Keep them open.

Defaults drop off and become less significant over time.
