Ok I'll try and provide some sensible input.

Anything Apple in terms of initial outlay isn't really moneysaving- they are nice to use though, well built and aesthetically pleasing. The syncing of devices does everything you'd expect but in practical terms it is all a bit gimmicky. Its handy sometimes to answer calls and reply to texts through your mac, if you're sat in front of it and your phone is elsewhere. Wouldn't be a deal clincher for me.

I did find it a bit griefy to transfer files. The formatting is different so I took out my old laptop hard drive, plugged it in via the usb to my mac, only to discover it wasn't quite as straightforward.

The operating system is good and obviously has similarities to iphone ios.

MAC if you want speed is undoubtedly quicker. Boots up in no time. I've only had my macbook for 7 months but friends/family who've had them for years tell me they don't slow down over time like a PC does, if you don't constantly maintain it/run various programs to declutter etc. This is what did my head in with all PCs I've ever had. Constant maintenance to keep it running well.

    Still prefer the chromebook though.

I use Apple stuff (iMac, MacBook pro and iPad Air 2), but not for the syncing, which is not as good as it's cracked up to be IMO. Their cloud storage is very restricted before you have to start paying for it, and there are other solutions out there that are cheaper and more workable. In addition to that, my phone is an Android anyway.

For me the Mac computers are just nicer to use, amongst other things. I switched from Windows 7 back in around 2010 and whilst it took me a bit of time to get used to the different setup, I have found it easier and less stressful that using Windows. I realise that Windows is probably a lot smoother now than it used to be though, and I would probably consider it again in the future, but for now I love my Macs.

Current PC very slow when browsing, over 5 years old and wasn't a very expensive one when purchased.
My questions were really the pros/cons of changing over and how difficult it is to change from using pc to MAC.

My beast died and I haven't got round to fixing it.
I using a piddly little I3 NUC DC3217IYE which came out in 2013.
    No issues browsing etc
Being 5 years old isnt the issue

I changed from Windows to Apple when I retired. I reckoned it kept the brain working by trying to learn the new (to me) operating system. It wasn't difficult. I would recommend it as, several years later, I am still perfectly happy with my MacBookPro, iPhone and iPad all working together. (You can even answer a phone call on your main device if your phone isn't close by - although that's really a bit of a gimmick). I don't do a lot of the 'clever'stuff, don't do 'gaming', just email, net surfing, photo manipulation, and I use Word and Excel for Mac. No complaints.

Ignore those who try and tell you Apple is expensive and not worth it. Yes, it is expensive but worth every penny. There will always be a Windows versus Apple argument and some people take every opportunity to prolong it. Horses for courses.

I think the best piece of advice so far was to find a friend with an Apple computer and have a go!

There you are. The very next post to mine is a negative Apple news item. I suppose there aren't similar reports on Windows devices? Thought not. There never are, that's why so many people buy Apple products.
