Can't partition USB drive?!

I recently wrote a bootable disk image to my USB drive. This created several small partitions. I now want to reformat the USB stick as a single partition.
I've deleted all but one 512MB FAT partition, but can't seem to get rid of that one.
Disk Management in Windows will let me reformat the partition, but not to delete or stretch it, and it won't allow me to create a partition in the unused space. GParted doesn't even recognise the device.
How can I erase the partition? It should be simple, right...?

Thanks. I just tried that, but it doesn't see the USB stick either... :-/
EDIT:
Ah -- I just assigned a drive letter to the USB stick and the HP Tool can now see the device... But it gives the following error:
Device media is write-protected.0 -
Had that recently, just unplugged and re plugged the USB stick in and it allowed access and worked second time around. Have used the HP tool over many years has always been the solution to drives Windows could not see or would not allow to be formatted.0
