Expensive car work - is it covered?
My car had this weird issue where you had to slap the dashboard to start the car. Driving around, at any moment, all the lights on the dashboard could come on, the dials all drop to zero, it says "engine malfunction"...but drives as normal.
The garage have just fixed it for a grand! (Kaching)
My worry now is..what if I drive it home and the issue happens again? Or is happens next week? Will i be able to get my money back? Should there be a warranty?
Thanks for your advice,
Kie

You obviously have a lot of confidence in the garage!
So why did you go there?
Have you asked them about a warrenty?0 -
If they have soldered the loose connection causing the problem, I'd expect them to offer a short warranty- 3 months tops, not because the repair is only expected to last that long, but because if it is going to fail it will do so quickly. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

If you think that way with any repair, it!!!8217;s best that you throw away anything that ever breaks and buy a new replacement.0

There is usually an implied 12 month warranty on garage work but rarely is this given in writing.0

Im more curious how you discovered whacking the dash made it start.0

It's a well known technique - frequently demonstrated on TV by one Arthur Fonzarelli.I need to think of something new here...0

It all sounds a bit slapdash to me...Dwy galon, un dyhead,
Dwy dafod ond un iaith,
Dwy raff yn cydio’n ddolen,
Dau enaid ond un taith.0 -

It won't happen again, it just won't. No one could be that unlucky twice.0
