I had my biggest finance with Black Horse for a car around 2002 but when they say they don;t have any records. Is there anything else I can do? At the time I was with clydesdale bank would I be able to request old statements from Clydesdale to get more info?

Did Black Horse sell you the finance or did they simply provide it on behalf of a car dealer?
If it was sold by a car dealership you have to complain to them and they will dismiss it as pre-regulation. If it was sold by the dealership, Black Horse have no liability for the sale of finance and the complaint will go no further.
If the finance was paid off presumably 2005-6 time, it is 12 years later it's no wonder it's gone, they are quite within their rights to delete the old data after 6 years (finance guideline)
Time to put this one to bed unless you bought finance from Black Horse directly and even then if they have no records left you'd not get anywhereSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

if its car finance then its likely that the finance was sold by the dealer. So, the lender would have a lot less documentation. They would have just acted on the instructions of the car dealer.
So, probably all they had was an application form and a credit agreement. When the loan was repaid, holding on to that would have been around 5-6 years before getting rid of it.
As they didnt sell it themselves, there would be less records as they are not liable for any complaint about PPI.At the time I was with clydesdale bank would I be able to request old statements from Clydesdale to get more info?
That wont help as all that will do is show a direct debit on your statement. It wont show the account number. It show if you had PPI. It wont show that Black Horse sold it and not a broker/dealer.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
