Comet & a faulty Camcorder

Not really, approx £350 reduced to £180.
However it's still expensive enough to replace and that is the main point. I would expect a camcorder, even a relatively inexpensive one, to last longer than 18 months. It is with thought that I am considering the SCC under the SOGA.0 -

Dear Mr Cairns
I was very concerned to learn of the problems that you have experienced regarding your faulty Camcorder . Please let me say how sorry I am and thank you for taking the time to get in touch.
We take great pride in the products that we sell and our after-sales service. We want our customers to be completely happy with the items they buy from us, hence all the products we sell are covered by a manufacturers’ guarantee. The length of the guarantee is usually sufficient for any technical problems with the product to materialise. Your comments concerning the repairs undertaken under the manufacturers’ guarantee have been noted and although you are experiencing further problems, this does not necessarily suggest that an unsuccessful repair was completed at that time.
Comet will not charge you for repairs carried out under the guarantee period. However, if the manufacturers’ guarantee or extended warranty on your product has expired, repairs are chargeable. Your Camcorder has been working for 21 months. As this is the case, we feel that it was of satisfactory quality when you purchased it and are therefore are unable to agree to your request to repair it free of charge.
I appreciate that this is not the response you are looking for and I apologise that I am unable to assist you any further in this matter.
Regards,
James

So what do you think my next step shoould be?
Written letter demanding action with a set deadline or else small claims court action?0 -
Basically yes, but you should register with moneyclaim and read all about the process you *should* be doing.0

It might be argued that because you brought a cheap camcorder, 22 months is not too bad.0
