Outlook Express driving me MAD

Everytime I attempt to open a link in an email the programme freezes. I have to do crtl+alt+del to close everything and then try again. Also it takes FOREVER to delete emails. Operating system is XP Pro and I have all the updates etc. and have done every scan, antivirus/trojan/adaware there is, (nothing found)
PLEASE could someone help me solve this puzzle please.

Links Do Not Work in Outlook Express
Problem: When you receive an e-mail with an embedded link to a site it will not open when you click the link.
Solution: This is usually associated with text links although it can occur just as easily when you click a graphic that is hyperlinked. In most cases this is caused by pop up stopper software that has been installed. Disable or uninstall the pop up stopper and see if it solves the problem.

Hyperlinks not responding in word and outlook express.

    1. Click Start, click Run, type the following command in the Run dialog box, and then click OK:
    regsvr32 urlmon.dll

    2. Repeat step 1 for each of the following commands:

    regsvr32 mshtml.dll
    regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
    regsvr32 browseui.dll
    regsvr32 msjava.dll

Above Applies to windows xp pro and windows xp home editions.

Outlook Express 6 possible causes of non responsive links:

    Possible causes:
1.A popup stopper set very high could stop certain links that behave like "popups" to load, the load can sometimes be stopped so fast as to appear like there was no response.

2.Because outlook and Internet explorer are kind of hand in hand, using another browser as your "default" browser can cause outlook to be non responsive/confused as to where to open the link.

3.Ensure your emails are set to HTML in Outlook Express. From within Outlook Express 6: click Tools -> Options -> Read, and make sure "plain text" is NOT selected. And lastly, keep in mind that Hyper Links will not function if you are composing an email -- only when reading received mail.

    4.If none of these work, try this fix;
Click Start -> Run, and then type in 'REGSVR32 URLMON.DLL' (without the quotes). You should then have a dialog box telling you that the procedure was completed.

Thank you Browntoa for your replies, well after following the advice it seems that I can open links with no problem, but deleting emails is still a BIG pain and hangs forever. When I do ctrl+alt=del it shows CPU 0 and idle cpu usage 90% I haven't a CLUE:confused: if this could mean anything, so its over to you again please.
