Black limescale mark in toilet

I noticed a random black mark below the water line.
Being paranoid, I thought it was blood and I had bowel cancer:(
A quick search shows it's limescale probably?
Anyway, tried pouring bleach and toilet duck overnight, no success.
Just tried soda crystals and hot water, no success.
Any other tips for this unsightliness

Spirits of salt or white vinegar will dissolve it. Be very careful with spirits of salt!0
-
Have you tried scrubbing it?0
-
A bottle of cheap cola in the pan overnight will probably shift it.0

You might need to get down the pan with a scraper, just use a metal one; you need a hard plastic one.
I've also had success with bleach (it doesn't dissolve the limescale but does bleach the mould that has attached itself to the limescale).
I've also had success with limescale removal tablets that you drop into the bowl and leave overnight. I think Harpic and Parazone are the brands I've used. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0 -

Thanks! Don't really want to get scrubbing so will try every avenue. Will get harpic power plus tablet0

Be careful mixing products. Bleach products will react with acidic products and can give off dangerous gases. Try one method at a time and flush the toilet between them.
The cheapest one to try first is a bottle of value cola overnight - probably less than 50p. If you have stains above the water line, soak tissue with the cola and stick the sheets to the pan.0 -
Armed Forces married quarter march in/out tip:
Box of Oust (or similar) washing machine descaler. Mix both packets with a half bucket of warm water . Tip down the loo and leave for as long as possible - overnight if you can.0 -
The black harpic is very good for limescale. It might take a few goes but it's the only thing that shifted the limescale in our loo when we moved in.0

This works wonders, on the back limescale ring I had when I moved in but do not breath in the fumes. Once most of it has gone you can use the other suggestions. My ring was a build up over ages and took nearly two 500ml bottles to shift itmaisie_cat wrote: »Spirits of salt0
