    Only cool if dun proper.

First build out callipers so they look massive - paper mache should do the trick.

Then cut bigger slots in your wheels so you can see em proper.
Hacksaw or angle grinder for this.

    That should get peoples attention.

Dont forget to jack up the rear suspension and put a neon light underneath; preferably purple.

No, to really pull the birds you need to..

    1) You have to cut half the coils off the springs (or just collapse them with a welding torch) so it looks as though the suspension is broken.
    2) cover all windows in gangsta film
    3) remove front numberplate
    4) fit chromed baby mixture tin as exhaust tailpipe.
    5) carry a fire extinguisher so every 50yards you can make it go PSSSSSSSH! really loudly
    5) do something to the fuelling so that the tickover is on 2 cylinders, and it stinks of petrol behind
    6) fit wheels that are at least 6" wider than the tread on the tyres.
    7) cover the bonnet with matt black fablon
    8) change all the bulbs for blue ones.
    9) fit a 2000W amplifier and speakers, always play bangin tunes.
    10) cover rear numberplate with gangsta film.

    Works for me..... :D

Or is it continually loading bundles of £50 notes into the boot using a sacktruck....... ;)

Perhaps it is the Audi badge after all...
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Can't easily be done on an Audi or VW. They usually have barrel coil springs which means once cut, they won't go back into the mounts..... not easily anyway.

You miss the point- it is the Audi BADGE that attracts 'em like flies round the proverbial.
(Or maybe the smell of the money after all....)

You'll find them on your Dacia Sandero, Fiat Punto or Ford Fiesta 1.2. What you need to do is remove the rear plastic wheel trims, then remove the steelies, pick your favourite colour and spray the drum liberally. Simple as that!!

No need to mask off or any of that prep work rubbish. That's just for disc calipers. Just pick your colour wisely: make sure it's nice and visible, something like bright yellow or blue or pink. No need to rub the drum down either...... just lay, spray, and take it away.

    Classy.

I was a mechanic and workshop foreman for many years, but never understood drivers who paint calipers, put 'go-faster stripes' along the length of their cars, lights underneath the chassis, all that cosmetic window dressing. I have owned some very fast cars and some luxurious cars, but mostly average motors that I tweaked and tuned to be faster and/or more economical, and/or more comfortable. I like driving "Q" cars which show no sign of what is actually under the bonnet or beneath the chassis.

Yes, at 73 maybe I am an Oldphart in some people's estimation, but that is what I was doing to cars I owned in my 20's to my 50's. And I have owned, built and rebuilt some outstanding cars.

I don't understand either the massive speakers and hugely powerful sound systems which don't play music: just a repetitive, ear-bending bass beat which always sounds the same from all such cars when they scream past, drainpipe silencer extension adding the ear pain.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

Ignoring the fact that OP fred is coming at this with his usual bias.... I assumed the point of the coloured calipers was to suggest that it was a competition-spec part rather than the road-car and hence the driver was more sporting and went on track days. Though I suspect that in a good number of the cases where the owner has gone for them they will never drive it to actually notice the difference and the only thing it means is "I paid an extra £600 for these" to other e.g. Porsche owners. Which display does impress some females if that is what the buyer intended and wanted.

However, the good folks at Freakonomics researched this and their results suggested that when you spread the increased number of sexual encounters across the ownership cost of a Corvette (in their example) you would get better value by driving a basic vehicle and spending the savings on high-class call girls. So on that basis - a Fiesta and a lot of escorts is the way to go :p
I need to think of something new here...
