Help! Lastminute.com and hidden costs

Be really grateful for advice
Booked a week in New York with last minute today for January
When booking email arrived it listed additional hotel costs of $500 that I was not told about by agent when booking
Contacted Lmc and they simply don’t believe me but have said they will review the tape/ they also have added additional fees to hold luggage . I paid deposit only by credit card
and want to cancel and go elsewhere- any advice would be really welcome

Could these be the :: resort :: or :: City amenity ::fees which have become popular by some US hotel recently, plus the Javits Conversation Centre fee, tourist development fees - plus an assortment of extra NY taxes?

They are normally displayed on the website by each hotel and you do need to factor these in to the overall stay cost.

I have found that Lastminute will obstruct you at every step, after they have your money.

You are probably stuck with your flight booking because 24 hours have passed.
So I would contact the hotel directly and ask THEM about cancelling the hotel part.
If you try and make changes (to flights in particular) LM will stitch you up with alteration charges.
