    It would have to be nearer 5" to encounter the problems you suggest.

    There are no hard and fast rules, it is down to personal preference at the end of the day, but 3" isn't suitable for alot of people.

    I bought a kingsize one of these a few months back from B&M. My old matress was on its last legs as you could feel the springs but with this one i'm sleeping loads better than i did even when the mattress was new.

    Toppers shouldn't be used to revive an old worn out mattress. If your old mattress is worn out then the chances are that the springs are past their best, and this isn't good for your back at all.
