VW car servicing
Comments
-
I did a spell between proper jobs as a 'grunt from a garage" collecting/returning customer cars for servicing.
Loved it. Great fun. Drove them all to their limits and had a whale of a time.
No way would I ever let a garage collect my car!
As for the original question, your mistake was to use a main dealership. I know several specialist independant VW outfits, and they all do much more comprehensive servicing.
Change all the consumables every time as part of their standard services, irrespective of the 'official' mileages etc, and they're priced lower too.0 -
Exactly how much have you lost financially from their error?
Whatever that amount is, that is what you should be compensated for. Those are your damages.0 -
Why do people think they are entitled to something when a mistake is made?
What long term, life changing effects will it have on you?
They have offered to pay fuel and have offered an apology and will probably apologise again on the day the work is done. Does saying sorry not mean anything any more?
IF the op had to take time off work, or self employed and would lose work then there is POSSIBLY a reason to negotiate for more but even then the first answer would be do the work with the least amount of inconvenience to the OP (ie, send a technician out to replace the part on your drive).
OP, get a grip, someone somewhere made a mistake, its been rectified thanks to your diligence (hopefully for all future servicing), they have apologised. Move on and get on with your life and stop thinking you are entitled to something. If everyone did that, the dealer would increase their costs inline with the others!0 -

+1
Said that in my first post. But then this is claim culture Britain - everyone need com-pen-say-shun.0 -
I opened this as a discussion on what I thought was a reputable site to highlight an issue that could affect others and how others maybe dealt with a similar situation.
I have never mentioned compensation and do not expect anything other than what I have paid for. As for the comment as to why I took it to a dealership, it is under warranty. Once it is 3 years old I doubt if it will ever see a service again, while I have it. Was contemplating them collecting my car, tho after GM comment, that shall not be happening. Comments by fred990 and JP1978 were unnecessary.
It is not a big issue to me, I really do not care about a pollen filter, but I paid for it and it was not done, and the dealership argued that they were in the right until VW UK got involved. I shall take my car to the fair city and enjoy their grovelling.0 -

I can see how people have misunderstood you.I have a 2 year old VW Golf which was due it's 2nd service (20,000 miles). I phoned round dealerships to find the best price as they all price differently. They all said that it was a major service during which oil and pollen filters are changed along with a 34 point check. I chose the cheapest 30 miles from me, at a VW dealership which has traded for more than 20 years and is a reputable firm. Once home, after getting my car back, I noticed on the paperwork, that the pollen filter had not been changed. I phoned them to be told that it does not now get changed til the car has done 40,000 miles and that the mechanic who carried out the service was correct in his actions. I did not believe this and contacted VW UK who confirmed the pollen filter is part of the 2nd service and that they had been in contact with the dealership to tell them that. The dealership has contacted me with an apology and has offered to have the car in again to change the pollen filter, and that they shall pay me for my fuel cost to travel the 30 miles again. I am waiting on a call from a manager to discuss the matter further.
Question - what do I deserve for my inconvenience ?
I am aware that I will not be the only customer who this has happened to and intend to broadcast this once I have my issue sorted.
Are you really not going to service it once it's three years old?0 -
