Temp Ins & Road tax Question

Saturday buying car.

Once car is home it will be sorned. BUT, need to pick up from dealer. I know about Temp ins, but, what do I do about road tax.

Do i pay upfront for road tax, then declare sorn when car is on my drive way, and wait for the tax refund?

Thank you.

The insurance policy may not automatically show to allow you to tax the vehicle, it may take an hour or a few days.

    Has the car got MOT?

The cost of a temp policy can be eyewatering too

If it is a private sale and already taxed it takes a few days to post the log book off to the DVLA and have them action it to show there is a new owner.

I would be tempted to ask the dealer if they could drive it to your address on trade plates.

What I need to know is.

When I buy car, I assume I pay the road tax online for 6 months or set up a dd. Then when car is on driveway, do I go back online and sorn car?

Why not just do as Molerat suggested - probably easier/cheaper to get someone to collect/deliver than mess around with taxing/insuring/cancelling
