Quote to remove old gas fire, oven and tidy up boiler pipework - £250

Options
Had a quote done today to remove and old gas fireplace (One of those 80's looking one) and cap off the gas supply as replacing with electric. Remove an oven and capping off the gas supply to it in preparation for my new one. Tidying pipework for the boiler. The pipework runs down then across the floor at an angle, putting in a corner unit so need it flush against the wall. Got quoted £250 for the whole lot. Seems alot as I was originally quoted £75 to remove fire and oven, that's an extra £175 to add a few elbow joints. He did however say he would have to go under the floor to cap off the gas fire.

Wondering if this is reasonable considering the work or to get more quotes?

TBH a gas fitter would be allowing a days work for that. So including his materials, it's on the money. Get more quotes, but don't expect a massive difference.

If they are altering the boiler pipework the system will need draining down and refilling after, that will add on a lot more time.
