3 month old car, part ex?

Lots of people love the Fiesta but I had one whilst my CMax was in the garage (for a half day job taking 4 days !) and I hated it, small and rough ride. My daughter has a Focus and I cannot get used to even being a passenger and that is the same car as mine in a slightly different guise. A few years back I had an Aygo as a courtesy car from my insurers after a shunt in my Mk1 Focus and loved it, a bit small but it seemed fairly comfy and nippy so it is simply a case of what you are used to.0

What make of car did your Mrs learn to drive in amd take her test?
As a new driver she is still "learning to drive" and will be for a while, best off getting to like what you have as this is a very expensive purchase to drop; common knowledge is new cars drop value the moment you take it off the forecourt.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
Hey,
This is my first post to the forum!
My question is...
My girlfriend bought a Toyota Aygo around 3 months ago after passing her test but she hates the car.
Considering it is a "city" car, it's quite a pain to drive (ie short bite, lots of gas to move off, loads of body roll).
She would like to look into changing it for a Ford Fiesta or Focus.
What would the best course of action be?
Oh, she also paid £11,500 for it and it's currently being valued at around £8.2k
Thanks
Who did she buy it from? Was it new?
Who is valuing it at £8,200? Have you looked on AT and other sites to see what a reasonable sale cost is? Was the £11,500 a reasonable purchase price?0 -
It sounds more like she's just not used to it yet or doesn't have the seat in a good position. I had a similar rental car recently that seemed unusable until I had done about 100 miles and became more familiar with it. I'd go spend an hour practicing with the clutch in a car park.
You'd be mad to trade/sell it after 3 months unless a family member is looking for similar, and you'll likely find the same problems in other cars. At least give it another 3 months or so.0 -
I bet gf learnt in a diesel?
This is a common problem for new drivers buying a petrol car. They have to re-learn 'setting the gas' due to less engine torque.0 -
Aygo is a city car.
Fiesta is a supermini.
Focus is a 5 door hatch.
3 completely different sizes of car, for different purposes.
Before she does anything, your gf needs to define what class of car she actually needs. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Would be cheaper to go and get hypnotised into thinking an Aygo is actually a Focus...I wouldnt bother with a Fiesta.0

Did she not test drive it before buying? My girlfriend bought a Toyota Aygo around 3 months ago after passing her test but she hates the car.

Two of those three are simply "not what she's used to", and her inexperience making it hard for her to adjust. How much has she actually used it in those three months?
She ordered a brand new car. She's selling a used car.She would like to look into changing it for a Ford Fiesta or Focus.
What would the best course of action be?
Oh, she also paid £11,500 for it and it's currently being valued at around £8.2k
She's selling it against cars which Toyota is retailing as "pre-registered" with their extensive approved used car scheme. She's not selling it to a Toyota dealer, so whoever buys it from her needs to be able to make money off selling it not just at a lower price than she originally paid, so their margin is in there, but at a lower price than a Toyota dealer would charge for a similar approved-used.
Rather than PX it to a Ford dealer or a general used-car dealer, why not ask the Toyota dealer what price they'll buy it back for? I presume there's finance settlement charges, too, or did she pay cash?0 -
My mother has an Aygo, albeit the earlier model. It's a great 'city' car IMO. My money is also on GF needing to learn to drive it.0

Yeah, I've advised her to keep hold of it for another year or so and hopefully, the value will start to level out a little bit with the equity.
At first the car seemed okay to drive, the more we drive it, the more we both hate it...
I suppose it's going to have to be an expensive paper weight for the drive :T
