I am heading to New York next week and would like to get married. Does anyone have any information about this?

    Bit of advise, don't leave it until the week before you get married in a foreign country to find out the laws and regulations needed.

  • I got married in City Hall in New York in 2011. I recall we filled in some forms online then attended City Hall to complete the application.

    They require 24 hours before the ceremony can be performed after you have the licence, we were unaware that they were going to be closed the day we wished to get married due to a public holiday and we were leaving the day after so were advised to apply for a Judicial Waiver which meant going to the court across the street and filling out some more forms.

    We then returned to City Hall and found a stranger to be our witness and got married the same day!
