Bluetooth earphones inside motorcycle helmet
Just wondering if anyone had experience of using Bluetooth headphones and mic inside a motorcycle helmet? I'm not talking about the intercoms just regular earphones and mic?
I want able to listen to google nav and potentially use a Bluetooth intercom app.
I know this isn't going to be as good as a decent intercom but I'm doing a bit of research and putting money aside bit by bit for something decent like a scala unit with mesh networking.
Any hints, tips, other ideas greatly received.
Thanks

Used Google Maps for the first time the other day on the bike, phone inside pocket of jacket and wired earphones and it worked a treat.
Problem with Bluetooth earphones might be that the size of the ear pieces can be rather large and not be comfortable or even fit inside the helmet.
There are these but the mike is a bit close to the ear, but its the type that might work.

Something like this?
Earpiece
Not sure how good the mics are on these but the sound quality is quite good.0 -
I dunno, but at high speeds on my bike I'd want no distractions at all.0

I have used wired earpieces before but the phone is now my satnav and I also want to find a Bluetooth earpiece .
Still looking.

My thoughts are anything with a mic built into the earpiece wont pick up properly. I think a separate one on the cable might be the way to go.
I definitely agree about not wanting the distraction at speed but its more for use with the nav and occasionally as a com rather that using your phone etc.
Eventually I know I will need to stump up for a decent system but just wanted to give this a try for a stop gap if it can be done for £20 whilst waiting to find a deal or save up £300Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0 -

Be careful where you put the mic. We have used a bike to bike coms set in the past. The mic was in front of my mouth Velcroed to the inner mesh of the helmet liner. I always forgot to take the damn thing off before removing my helmet and ended up scratching my forehead EVERY time.
If we were out on a long trip and stopped a few times for petrol, food etc. I always ended up with a really sore scratch at the end of the day.
So make sure you can fit the mic in the helmet easily. Husband never had a problem with his, only I did0 -
There are plenty of intercoms under £30 out there, they'll be cheap chinese tat but I'd imagine will last a year or two until you can save up for a better one.
If I were you, my money would be buying this if you don't want to spend a fortune (not mine BTW).

I bought a second hand Interphone F5 about four years ago for under £50 on eBay. Still going strong now and good as new.0 -
I got a motorcycle Bluetooth headset from aldi during their bike week a fee years ago, big flat Velcro in earpad things, comes with a stick on bit of Velcro, or u can stick to the lining . Took a fair bit of positioning to get into the ear gap bits of my helmet and then lining em up with my ears( I may be fussy) then the boom mike can come off the control box at the side, worked a dream.all wire fits behind padding nice and neat. Google drive and android auto app means u can have music and then the hav will turn it off and give a direction and then put it time back on. In terms of calls, at 30 in a quiet bit I can Ok Google call home and it will. But I struggle to get my phone to do that anyway so over 40, no chance of it recognizing. Where it is good is that it will ring and cut off ur music and there is an holding great button on the side so u got that to answer with, which is ideal for, I'm in traffic I'll be 20. For £30 I got a second for my flip top as well.saving for more holidays0

Thanks, the cheaper option in the short term might be the way to go. In terms of connectivity, can you connect the cheaper ones to other brands of coms? Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0
