Threatened with debt collection agency

I have received a letter from a debt collection agency over almost £500.00 owed to Lloyds TSB for bank charges. I am now worried and feel I should make arrangements to pay off the debt. Can anyone offer me any advice? I have written to Lloyds TSB re bank charges but have got absolutely nowhere. Thanks.

I am in a similar postion having been vigorously and aggressivly been pursued by Barclays bank for nearly a year!
My account was originally with the woolwich, who despite me closing the account, continued to dip their sticky fingers in and remove large wads of money from my account.
Barclays then took over Woolwich accounts.
Since then I have been to the Financial Ombudsman, who referred it back to Barclays. Barclays still insist that I should cough up and pay them back my own money. While telling me they don't have to do anything because of the pending court case.
As far as I am concerned these charges are unlawful. The bank feel otherwise and yet they are being shielded by the law due to a pending court case by being allowed to tell me that I am no longer able to pursue my claim until the outcome of such a case.
Surely the same should be like-wise and we, the consumer should be protected by the same law and be protected from admitting liability and being pursued for money until said court case is resolved ?
Is there anyway to stop the banks pursuing their claims for our cash until this court case is heard ?0 -

To add insult to injury, I have just this minute received a letter from a debt collection agency telling me I must pay back everything or else. They have also added MORE bank charges to this account!
Can anyone help please ?0
