You could buy online from Travelex for collection at airport and then claim up to £50 cashback with their best price guarantee.
My guide clearly explains how

Of course I cant gaurantee that next jan exchange will be better or worse, but no one mentioned next jan in any post.

What I can gaurantee is that if you are going in the near future (which is when most people travel after exchanging) that the atm, nationwide debit card will get you more dollars for your pound

You can kind of hedge your money , although it does tie it up from now till you go, so a possible loss of interest.
Travelex rate is 1.99 odds. You could secure that rate today and activate their price promise too for up to £50 cashback.
If rate drops then fine you are protected, however if it continues to rise, sit tight until you get a rate you are happy with . Cancel travelex and rebuy at higher rate.(youll have to give the price promise refund back too;))
This is a good way of hedging and then jumping in at http://www.crowncurrencyexchange.com/ futures. their 41-50 days rate is currently interbank rate ($2.02)

My guide how to get up to £50 cashback from travelex may be off interest too

travelex cancelation t&cs
Your Right To Cancel
Orders can be cancelled at any time prior to collection by calling customer services on 0870 333 0617 (Monday to Friday 08.00 - 22.00, Saturday and Sunday 10.00 - 20.00) or by email on helpdesk.onlinetravelmoney@travelex.com. Cancelled orders will be refunded with the full sterling amount that you paid for your Travel Money order less a £10 late cancellation fee if you cancel your order less than 24 hours in advance of the collection time. Please note that Travelex does not refund cash advance charges made by your card issuer and that the late cancellation fee may also be subject to a cash advance fee from your card issuer. Should you fail to collect your order from the nominated Travelex location within 72 hours of the collection time then your order will be marked as non-collected and will be treated in the same way as a cancellation made less than 24 hours in advance of collection time. Travelex will process cancelled or non-collected orders expeditiously and will organise refunds. Refunds may take a little longer, subject to your card issuer's efficiency. The provisions of this cancellation clause do not affect your statutory rights.
