[13:25 GBP/USD: Fresh 22-Day Peak Scaled, BoE MPC Changes Revealed] London, March
19. Cable scaled a 22-day peak a pip shy of 1.4550 into the 13:15GMT ECB fix,
after rallying off 1.4474 (pullback low from a London lunchtime high of 1.4530).
The greenback is continuing to suffer on the back of the "Quantitative Easing"
measures unveiled by the Federal Reserve yesterday (GBP/USD was trading at 1.3955
into the 18:15GMT FOMC statement).
With reference to those US QE measures, a UK clearer has written that "the
inflationary risks of such massive balance sheet expansion are clearly evident,
and, if realized, represent a considerable risk to the USD".
UK Chancellor Alistair Darling has revealed that David Miles will join the
BoE MPC on June 1, as a replacement for David Blanchflower (who is leaving the
MPC on May 31). It has also been revealed that Tim Besley will leave the MPC when
his term ends on August 31 (Reuters). Besley wanted to hike Bank Rate by 25bp to
5.25% in July and August last year. Bank Rate was cut by 50bp to a new record low
of 0.5% earlier this month. Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk
