Car insurance renew and NCB problems
Hi all I'm new to this,
I passed my driving test last year and within my first week I rolled into the back of someone and agree the collision was my own fault. I had a few small scrape and the other guy had similar damage. He got out the car and went crazy about it. I apologised and offered to pay for the damages rather than go through the insurance.
We exchanged numbers and details (just incase of insurance etc). He called me the following day quoting over £500 which was a joke as his car was an old vectra.
I called my insurance and they took all the details and I gave them his insurance details and they then realised they were fake details? I.e his policy number had no letters and was very short.
A few months later I hear nothing and I had to increase my mileage, the incident was on my statement of fact and said 'no claim' but the estimated 'own damage at 1200' even though my insurance is third party only.
Lastly, I'm get my renewal quote today and they have not gave me my NCD. Looking further into my statement of fact under 'incidents' says a claim was made yet under 'third party damage and injury it says N/A' but my own damage is still 1200. I called my insurer and they said nothing is on my record as a claim and the claims department has set a 1200 claim reserve and that I need to call them. Which I will do tomorrow.
I am just curious as to what the hell might have gone on and if anyone has had a similar occupancy?
Thank you and I appreciate any replies

I suspect they are waiting for a claim to come in from the third party and will only give you the NCD once they are happy that no claim is being made. The fact that the guy asked for £500 shows that they may claim.0
