Permitted development rear extension

Options
Hi all :)

Quick question, I am looking to buy a semi detached bungalow that already had a rear extension done approx 15 years ago of about 3m- done with planning permission then. If I wanted to go back another 1m (permitted development allows a total of 4m) can I do it under permitted development or do I need to apply for planning permission?

Thanks!

    Isn't it 4m if detached, but 3m if semi-detached?

... Or double these with prior approval/neighbours consulted

Why did the previous extension require planning consent? Is it listed or in a conservation area?

What does the previous consent say? Sometimes any remaining permitted development rights are removed.
